More than you might think! Cute Dals-Ed, one of Sweden's smallest municipalities, is like a cowboy town. On the surface, it's quite sleepy, but suddenly everything changes and the town is filled with excitement and partying! Here I've collected my best tips for your visit.

Ed - Cowboy Town on the Big Lee
Dals-Ed is like a cowboy town with basically only one street. It's usually quite sleepy in Ed, but when it's right, the town is filled with life. With just over an hour's train ride from Gothenburg and wild nature all around, it attracts both outdoor enthusiasts and commuters looking for the good life in the countryside.
Restaurants in Ed - Local Idiot and V8 Garagebar
If you are hungry when you arrive, we recommend the restaurant "Lokal Idiot". Yes, you read that right. Local idiot is not stupid at all. Charming restaurateur with roots in the big city offers good food and delicious IPAs in a homely environment. If you want to move on for a beer and a good hangout, check out V8 Garagebar. American style vintage garage bar, nicely decorated with shuffle board and billiards.
Accomodation in Ed - Stationshuset and Hotel Dalsland
The easiest way to sleep is at the station - not on a bench, that is, but at the Vandrarhemmet Stationshuset Bed & Breakfast , it's super clean, unmanned and easy to book with your mobile phone. If you want to stay more luxuriously, you should check into Hotell Dalsland .
Best cafe and pizzeria in Ed: Smör och Socker, and Pizzeria Dilan.
When you wake up slightly hungover from yesterday, you can grab a pizza at Dilan. The pizzeria has been there since the 70s. They know their stuff! Much better than the typical suburban pizza in town. If you're more of a coffee lover, go to Kafé Smör och Socker . They have pretty much every pastry you can imagine, including cinnamon buns with vanilla cream. Yummy!
Ed's Market, Booth Race and Country Party
Dals ed is like a cherry tree. It doesn't make much of a fuss, but for short periods it blooms really well and gets everyone's attention. Two such occasions are Ed's spring and autumn markets . Full of people, bouncy castles and venders. In the evening, at least when I was young, it was a huge party. If that's what you're looking for, come during the Countryfest in August. Then Ed transforms into a Westwood. Last year the rockband Mando Diao played. Not bad, and especially fun because the band's guitarist comes from Ed. Another event you shouldn't miss is Monster Race. Here you can see big men playing with big cars. Childish fun!
That's all for now - to be continued!
