Festival summer in Dalsland 2025

Updated: 4 days ago

Dalsland offers a summer filled with culture, music festivals and sporting events. Here are ten festivals and major events you don't want to miss in the summer of 2025.

1. Ed's Country Festival July 26

Sweden's largest country festival returns to Dals-Ed with both Swedish and international artists. This year's lineup includes Doug Seegers, Wild Whens and Emma Svensson. Ed is easily accessible by train in just over an hour from Gothenburg.

2. Åmåls Bluesfest 11-12 July

One of Scandinavia's leading blues festivals, Åmåls Bluesfest has become one of Dalsland's strongest cultural institutions. The festival attracts artists from all over the world. Concerts on several stages, jam sessions and a wonderful atmosphere on the shores of Lake Vänern.

3. Forest Festival in Lästvik 30-31 May

Skogsfesten is one of Sweden's smallest festivals but also unique of its kind. To get there you need to walk a couple of km straight into the forest. Once there you will find a small nangiala. The festival is ecological, off grid and powered by solar cells. They have their own currency, to buy food and drinks. Only one band plays at a time, which gives a sense of community. Between concerts you can check out art installations, participate in workshops or check out Dalsland's best view.

4. Fröken Snusk August 29 in Bengtsfors

New Miss Snusk is coming to the folk park in Bengtsfors. Just visiting the folk park is an experience in itself. In the 90s, it was notorious for its wild parties in the parking lot. The best thing happened when artists came who were popular with Dalsland's raggare, such as Eddie Meduza. Miss Snusk is possibly our time's equivalent. So expect a full house!

5. Book Days in Dalsland 14–16 August

A slightly more tidy event is Bokdagar i Dalsland, which is one of Sweden's largest literature festivals, with author talks, award ceremonies and children's programs. This year's guests include Mikael Wiehe, Jenny Jägerfeld, Åsa Linderborg and Kenneth Hermele. The festival takes place in and around the Old Church in Åmål's guest harbor. Bring out the culture aunt in you and come!

6. Summer gigs at Upperud 9:9

In a beautiful old grain silo outside Mellerud you will find Dalsland's perhaps best hotel and restaurant Upperud 9:9. Several summer concerts are arranged here that you can enjoy in the evening sun on the pier. In 2025, folk rocker Mora Per, Grammy-nominated Liris Viljanen, blugrass trio Heartwood and more will be performing!

7. Dalsland X-Country May 17 in Bengtsfors

One of Sweden's largest mountain bike races through the beautiful nature of Dalsland. Dalsland X-country suits both elite cyclists and exercisers who want to experience forests and lakes on two wheels. You choose whether you want to ride mountain bikes, gravel bikes or E-bikes.

8. Gardens of Music, July 9 in Fengersfors

Dalsland surprises and impresses again with the walking music festival Gardens of music . Four concerts in four gardens starting at Not Quite in Fengersfors and ending at Fröbacken.

9. Film Festival at Dal 10-19 October

Dalsland Film Festival, now with the neo-romantic name “ Filmfestival på dal ” has been called the world's largest film festival, in terms of the number of films in relation to the county's captia and festival visitors. Whether this still applies is unclear. Filmfestival på Dal shows 70-90 films and attracts around 8,000 visitors to the festival's cinemas in the towns of Bengtsfors, Ed, Mellerud, Åmål, and Färgelanda.

10. Improv with Nassim Al Fakir in Mellerud June 14

The cultural center at Dal organizes lots of cultural events. One that stands out a little extra this year is Improfest and comedy night, which is hosted by the all-round artist Nassim Al Fakir, who has appeared in several musicals and TV programs such as Bäst i Test and Lets Dance. Also on stage is the ensemble Gbg impro, which, as the name suggests, offers improvisational theater.
